We are MBA students who know the value of design to business and are passionate about user-focused innovation. Our club exists to raise awareness about business design and facilitate student-to-industry connections, give opportunities for practical application, and provide an inclusive harbour for the business design community.

Camilo Gonzalez Barrero
President

Camilo holds a Master's Degree from the Politecnico di Milano. Prior to the MBA, he worked as a Project Manager and Innovation Manager in the real estate industry. He has spent the recent years of his career delving into corporate innovation, blending human-centered frameworks and new technologies to develop new products and services. He interned at Telus Digital as a Service Designer through the Business Design Initiative. Camilo is passionate about learning how design-driven innovation and emerging technologies are reshaping the future of creativity.β€œPioneering an innovation hub at my past company became a pivotal chapter in my professional story. I discovered the power of design-driven innovation, a journey that steered me to Rotman. Here, I reaffirmed the importance of 'living in Beta,' constantly questioning and iterating to be better leaders and shaping compelling business ideas. Combining empathy and creativity with a human-centered approach to business is critical to transforming ideas into strategic and sustainable business innovations.”

Nishtha Taneja,
VP Case Competitions

A strategist by heart, Nishtha completed her Bachelor of Engineering in India before moving to Toronto for her MBA. She worked as a project manager at a fintech product based company for 4 years where she realised her passion for helping clients. With a goal to pivot into consulting , she wanted to be at the intersection of strategy and design thinking. This summer, she has joined McKinsey & Company as an Associate Intern. In her free time, she loves to go on hikes and explore parks.

Astha Malik,
VP Operations

Astha graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Delhi. With a strong background in capability development, HR transformation, strategy formulation, and leadership development, she brings extensive expertise to the table. Before pursuing her MBA, Astha gained valuable experience in the management consulting field at PwC, where she collaborated with cross-functional teams to serve global clients. During her internship with the Analytics and Innovation unit at Toronto Police Service (TPS), she worked as a Strategic Analyst Associate, further honing her skills in strategic analysis. Astha continues to seek opportunities that allow her to apply her business acumen and formulate effective business strategies. She is particularly passionate about integrating business design thinking principles into her work to create innovative solutions for clients and teams. Outside of her professional pursuits, Astha enjoys engaging in hobbies such as rock painting, watching Formula 1, and baking.

Ramya Cotah,
VP Case

Competitions

Ramya holds a Bachelor's of Hotel Management degree from Manipal University, India. She worked with Taj Hotels, a leading hotel chain in India, for 3.5 years where she handled marketing and pricing strategy. She is passionate about curating memorable customer experiences. She interned at Deloitte this summer as a Consultant with the Higher Education Transformation practice. She would love to explore consulting roles that combine strategy, and design after the MBA.

Stanley Tung,
VP Internal Relations

& Communications

Stanley, a third-generation entrepreneur, has been instrumental in growing the businesses TASHIN and GIHALI, introducing innovative health-focused hair products like hairdryers and a Universal Hair Diffuser. His recognition includes serving as a Business Design Fellow at Rotman and a Business Design Initiative (BDI) intern with Telus, along with achieving finalist status in the Rotman Design Challenge. Committed to design thinking and strategy, he plans to expand GIHALI's product line to 50 offerings and actively seeks mentorship to improve his skills. Stanley is involved in the Business Design Club and the Business Design Initiative, reflecting his dedication to consumer-oriented innovation and business design.

Namrita Bhatti,
VP Education

Namrita Bhatti is an accomplished business professional with over eight years of experience. She most recently served as a Senior Business Analyst at Egon Zehnder, where she led projects for C-suite executives and was instrumental in the company's strategic planning. She is recognized for her abilities to manage multicultural teams and deliver solutions for high-value clients. Before her current MBA pursuit at the University of Toronto, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of London. Additionally, Namrita has cleared the Level 2 CFA examination, affirming her financial expertise. With her rich experience and academic credentials, Namrita is a force in business analytics and financial services.

Swebah Javed,
VP Career Development

Swebah holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting and Finance from the Lahore University of Management Sciences. Before starting her MBA, she simultaneously worked as a Senior Accountant leading post-acquisition integration at an industrial heating systems company and as a VP of Strategy and Business Development, leading growth strategy for a Greentech startup. With a passion for innovation and entrepreneurship, she has served as a change leader for three Fortune 100 companies.    

While interning as Digital Consultant at CIBC, Swebah is actively learning to marry empathy and design thinking to solve real-world problems. Beyond her professional pursuits, she enjoys nurturing her curiosity with a camera or torturing her feet on the HIIT floor.

Jorge Ramirez,
VP Industry Engagement

Born in Lima, Peru, Jorge holds a bachelorΒ΄s degree in Business Management. He has more than 5 years of experience leading and working on different marketing projects at CPG companies. During the summer, he joined Simplii Financial as a Product Management intern. He enjoys playing racquet sports and hanging out with friends in his free time.
